This very beautiful vase is of solid Brass and stands 3" high.  I personally have never seen this before and was quite puzzled by its construction and function.  It has a single rim that in place in the upper portion conceals 5 British 1 Pound Coins.  This rim is built with a magnet only usable from one side which is the side you first see with the coins locked in place.  Once the vase is shown with the flat surfaces on top and bottom the top is pushed down on the base and at this point the rim locks on to the base and allows for the top to come away revealing the stack of coins.  This came from a European Collection.  Vase with coins locked in weighs 14.5 ounces.  Condition very fine.
