A numbering machine is shown explaining it has two columns of numbers ranging from 0 to 9. Turning a small wheel on either end a number maybe recorded between 1 and 99. The machine is handed to a spectator asking that any number thought of between 1 and 99 be set on the machine making sure no one else see the number chosen. The machine is taken and dropped into an opaque glass with the statement that it would be impossible for anyone to know the number in the mind of the spectator. The glass is placed in full view on the table. 

Reaching into his pocket, the performer states "I have another machine here and I will set it to a number which has been in my mind all day." This machine is then set down on the table. The performer walks over to the glass, picking it up and tipping it over allowing the machine to fall out into the palm after which the number is read aloud. The spectator is asked to walk over and pick up the machine on the table and call out the number. Both are the same!

The second phase of the routine has the performer explaining what happened could be put down to chance or even luck. He is now going to show that minds cannot only be read but it is possible to control actions! The spectator is asked to take a machine and hold it behind his back and turn the wheels round several times until he has no idea what the recorded numbers may be. Before he finishes, the performer stops him and states, "Before you complete your task I am going to record another number on the machine which this gentleman is holding" the machine is taken from the other spectator and a number is set and it is placed on the table and covered with the glass.

The person in process of setting the numbers is told to continue until he feels the urge to stop. He is asked to bring the machine our from around his back and asked to call out the numbers he has stopped at by chance. The machine is taken and passed to the second spectator. The second spectator calls out these numbers. After this it is recapitulated how everything has been left to chance. Have spectator lift the glass and pick up the machine performer set before the second phase started. He is asked to call out the recorded number and it is exactly as spectator set by chance behind his back!

Reading this again, you will see how impossible all of this can be, and the spectators just cannot believe what has transpired and nothing but true mind reading and mind control can justify what they have seen!
