A padlock and 7 keys are given for examination with the request that each key be tried in the lock and although the keys fit they will not open it.  Another key is shown and it does open the lock. The lock is snapped shut through someone's button hole and a committee is asked to mix the 7 keys and seal them in separate envelopes.

The envelopes are mixed and the performer stands far away yet when the committee holds the envelopes up one at a time the performer correctly points out the one envelope with key that opens the lock. The spectators tear open the envelope removing the key and open the lock themselves!
